Month: March 2014

March 31st

Not much visible change, except to say the plumber has been again and the bricks were cleaned on Saturday. Still very slow. We are week 18 into a 30 week build. So frustrating when you are paying two mortgages and rent and there are kids involved. It’s like hitting your head against a brick wall.

Slowly but surely, the brickies are working with no rain delays this week. The SS called to say they would be finished mid week and then they would have a site clean Thurs or Fri (13th/14th March). The scaffolding has to be lifted and then the sarking and tiles can go on. Clarendon still have not got back to us with any reassurances that they will be picking up the weeks lost due to the frame being delayed in November 2013. This was delayed, supposedly due to potential weather conditions and leaving it in the elements over Christmas. Yet with the weather now, and the floors drenched, even now, there is no sense of urgency. Contradictory I think!

Brickwork continuing with 4 on the job now. Met with the site supervisor on Friday (yesterday) and ran through the weeks, eventually agreeing we were at wk 16 and the bricks only half up the wall. Next door started a week behind of us and are now having wet areas being done, cabinets, staircase, and gyprock installed or completed. The SS realised they were behind and I advised that we had to catch up or they will be over the contracted timeframe of 30wks. Barring rain 2nd June is their deadline. I have asked the builder to come back to me with their proposed plan to catch up. I will follow up next Friday if they have not responded. Even though you build with a Project Builder you have to stay on top of them.
